Flower & business design insights, inspiration, and advise for the modern day florist (or wannabe florist).
I could go on and on about how much I love designing with ornamentals. My favorites are are kale and artichoke. For one, they add drama and texture to anything you create. They usually take up a decent amount of space to help fill out your arrangements. Lastly, when arranging a collection of centerpieces or bouquets, they enhance the overall look in an impact full way.
Most wholesalers have an assorted variety for you to choose from, you can also shop from the growers directly for the best quality & freshness.
When designing with kale or artichoke keep in mind your end result look will be more of a dense feel. If you are looking for something light and airy, you may want to use less artichoke and more kale. These ornamentals are usually found in late summer or fall designs for this very reason. In the fall months you'll find densely packed mums, wheat, and foliage. So naturally kale and artichoke go beautifully with autumn inspired arrangements. You can still get away with using them year around. Below are my favorite ways to incorporate these beauties into your next design project.
I just want to let you know that I'm finally making the move to getting own studio space. I've spent a year sharing a space with another creative, but the space has become to small for the both of us. I'm really excited to see my vision coming to life. Thank You again for all of your coaching help and website development!
